Research Methodology
The collection of video games was carried out using open sources with the following search methods:
- Open search on Google
- Parsing announced video games on Steam
- Searching for announced video games in calendars and databases
- Searching for announced video games in articles from gaming news publications
Disclaimers
The research includes video games from May 2024. The list includes video games that were released during the data collection process, early access games, and games with overlapping platforms, released or announced on multiple platforms simultaneously.
The research did not conduct a targeted collection of F2P Multiplayer video games.
The dataset includes games with tags: Online, MMO, MMORPG, Multiplayer, MOBA, Battle royale, Online PvP, F2P.
The collected information does not claim to be completely comprehensive and is considered intermediate in the planned research cycle.
Conclusions
For the “Conclusions” section, the data is grouped.
A dataset of 5109 video games was formed during the research. Of these, 3912 do not have sufficient data on the payment model and the number of simultaneous users and are not included in the calculations. The final conclusions are based on 1197 video games.

- 401 video games do not have tags indicating the possibility of online play

- 585 video games have a B2P (Buy-to-Play) payment model
